DRAMA

SUBJECT OVERVIEW

The Drama Department is made up of three experienced and dynamic specialist members of staff.  We are supportive, enthusiastic and caring. We believe strongly in the pupils enjoying their Drama lessons and working cooperatively.

We have a specialist drama studio and rehearsal room which are used along with the school hall. All three teaching spaces are fully equipped with lighting, sound equipment, a computer and data projector.

We are a very popular subject at Key Stage 4 & 5 and have very high expectations of all our groups. Dedication, commitment and  enthusiasm are essential qualities that we look for within our lessons.

Extra-curricular activities include drama club, school production, visits from local university groups and local theatre companies, theatre visits and residential trips.  For Able, Gifted and Talented students and students at Key Stage 4 & 5 we offer the LAMDA qualification as an extra-curricular activity.

We run support rehearsal sessions for students in both Key Stages 4 & 5  and have Drama can open many doors; it is not just about the stereotypical acting jobs, but also about the interpersonal skills that pupils can develop. Pupils who have studied drama with us often find that they are using and developing their drama skills in their everyday lives.
